The gems of tunes and lyrics from the works of the greatest Arabic composers and singers of the 20th Century will light up the National Theatre on March 19, in the musical evening “Timeless Melodies”, a tribute to artists whose work has survived for decades and is still being remembered throughout the Arab world today. Despite time, their lyrics and tunes shine more and more as we listen to them, and their glamour never fades. Egyptian singers Reham Abdel Hakim, Hanan Issam, and Mohamed Metwally will perform these timeless works with the Cairo Opera House Musical Ensemble conducted by Maestro Mohammed Al Mougui.
In this concert, the audience will be taken on a nostalgic tour of the legacy of the stars of Arabic music’s golden age, starting with Sayed Darwish, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, and Mohamed al-Qasabgui, moving on to Riyad al-Sunbati and Farid al-Atrash, and eventually arriving at Mohamed al-Muogui and Baligh Hamdi, with a compilation of their most beautiful songs composed for magnificent singers, including Umm Kulthum, Asmahan, Laila Murad, to Shadia, Fayza Ahmed, and many others.
