On 9 July, the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ali Concert Hall hosts the opening concert of the 17th Summer Cultural Festival, organised by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature (NCCAL). “Songs of Fadl Shaker” celebrates a selection of the most cherished songs by the renowned Lebanese artist, performed by his son Mohamed Shaker, joined by guest singer Raneen Al Shaar and a musical ensemble conducted by Maestro Michael Ibrahim.
The programme showcases a collection of Fadl Shaker’s most popular and beloved hits. After years of retirement, the acclaimed singer recently returned to the music scene, releasing several singles that received widespread acclaim across digital platforms.Mohamed Shaker, who possesses a rich and emotive voice reminiscent of his father’s, began his musical career in 2017 with the release of his debut single “Ana Ya Jorouhi.” He went on to release several successful tracks, including “Lamma Tehenn” in the Egyptian dialect — a song that found wide resonance among Gulf audiences, especially in Kuwait — as well as “Ma Bakkait,” “Khalasit El Qessa,” “Shakhs Ma,” and “Ya Hayati.”
Raneen Al Shaar, daughter of Lebanese singer Abdelkarim Al Shaar, first gained public recognition in 2004 through her participation in the programme The Voice. Since then, she has pursued a distinguished musical career, earning acclaim for her performances of classical Arabic songs as well as operatic repertoire.
