On 4 February, the Drama Theatre hosts a special evening that celebrates the power of the written word when it becomes sound, and the poem when it lives on in collective memory. “Ash’ar wa Ghanawi of Rashed Boursli” (Poems and Songs of Rashed Boursli) pays tribute to the works of Kuwaiti poet Rashed Boursli, as part of the 31st edition of the Qurain Cultural Festival, organised by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters. The evening will feature performances by singers Khaled Al-Mulla, Faisal Al-Saad, Khaled bin Hussein, and Abdullah Tareq, accompanied by the musical ensemble led by Dr Mohammed Al-Buaijan.
The concert highlights the human bond between poet, performer, and audience, and the role of lyrical poetry in expressing love, longing, and nostalgia, while preserving elements of Kuwait’s cultural heritage. Through sincere conversations, visual segments, and songs cherished by generations, the evening explores the meeting point between the written word and song, where poetry comes alive through voices loved by the public, telling the story of verses that transcended books to become part of the collective consciousness.
The programme includes a wide selection of Boursli’s lyrical poems that have been performed by leading artists, including “Hab Naseem Al-Fajr,” “Waynak Inta Ya Al-Mahboob,” “Bihawa Al-Bahrain,” “La Terooh,” “Qurbak Habibi,” and many others.
